Sunday 17th July saw us turn up at Coed-y-Brenin
for a bit of a mix and match ride.  The route would
take in mainly the MBR but with a few bits added
and a few bits missed out to try and pack in as
much singletrack as possible.  Jim (with his
Delamere damaged fingers) and Steve turned up
to join me, Maca and Sabine.  The numbers were
down on what we have previously seen, the
summer holidays seeming to have taken its toll
on riding passes, but this didn't dampen the
mood and we were all looking forward to a great
ride.  After the climb from the car park it was not
long until we were warming our skills up on the
first section of singletrack descent of the MBR.
At the firetrack instead of continuing along the
MBR we turned right and followed a cut through
Me and Steve appearing from the trees
Jim, Steve, Sabine and Maca on the first of the three
sections of Snap, Crackle and Pop
to pick up the
Karrimor/Red Bull
climb.  After a quick
rest and regroup at
the top it was then
time to select a high
gear for the blast
down hill and the
rocky sections of
Snap, Crackle and
Pop.  Taking a left we
then descended to
the start of R74 (hard
work but fun) to pick
the MBR back up and
then cross the road

to the other side of the forest.
This was where the first signs of
trouble began as Sabines back
problem started to resurface.  By
the end of the next section of
singletrack the hard but sensible
decision for me and Sabine to
cut the ride short was taken as
things were just getting worse.
On the bright side we had got 10
good miles in and Maca was able
to continue with Jim and Steve.

The three of them rode round the rest of the MBR only trading one badly worn section for the addition of
the Karrimor finish, after the bridge, on the return to the car park.  Thanks again goes to Jim for
supplying half of these pics so you can see what they got up to even if I can't tell you.
