My first visit here was in March '04. Sunday saw us stopping off at Dalbeattie on the way home from a
fantastic weekends riding in Glentress. It was time to ride the slabs we had all heard about - and they
didn't disappoint. There is a bit of firetrack in the loop but the singletrack and the slabs more than made
up for it. A pretty unique riding experience and one that has increased my view of what is ridable.

saw us coming back to Dalbeattie on the way home from Glentress. This time we were a bit
more tired as we had ridden Glentress and Innerleithen over the previous day and a half.

That didn't stop us having a great day though. The forcast rain stayed away and instead we enjoyed a cool,
still, dry day, perfect riding weather. We took a leisurely four hours to complete the loop stopping at all
the technical rock sections to have a play and help each other increase our levels of riding, either by
encouragement and coaching or simply egging on. Thankfully when I tested by bodging skills, after going
over the bars and tweaking my rear brake hose connector on a rock within the first couple of miles, I
managed to stop the fluid leak and keep the brake working, a pretty essential piece of kit here.
