At the top we dropped our saddles
and padded up, time to have some
fun. Taking it slowly on the first run
we stopped at all the drops and
jumps, working on our lines and our
bottle. It took us well over an hour to
reach the bottom and it had been
fantastic. With our newly gained
knowledge and confidence it felt
great to head back for another run,
this time at speed and in one.
I’ve ridden the Traquair XC loop in Innerleithen a number of times before. It’s a great ride but I always
finished at the bottom of Caddon Bank wishing for more time so I could do the last descent again. This
time I was up on a freeride weekend with Sunday morning set aside for sessioning Caddon Bank. It was
something I had been looking forward to for months.

I thought my short cut to the top was the quickest way up. It was, just not as
quick as taking the bus. With uplift service having restarted the same day we
shared the fire track with coaches and trucks ferrying the Downhillers to the
top. We agreed it would be silly not to take advantage of the facility next time.
