As a mountain bike owner of just over 2 years I'm a relative novice, without technical skills but managed to get round most
mountain bike trails and off road routes with sheer determination and at times trepidation. Following from my Trail
Techniques course I found that the simplest tips that Colin gave have really made a massive difference in making trails easier
to navigate. I am also much more confident on trails, in particular corners, and try to practice certain techniques on my own
with further improvement. Courses are run professionally and with the small course number all skill levels have some 1:1
attention.

I've been riding a mountainbike on and off for the last 20 years.  I assumed that you learn to ride a bike when you're a kid
and that's it.  How wrong can you be.  There were four aspects of the course that I benefited most from.  The first came
within 5 minutes of leaving the car park.  It was simple advice on the correct posture for climbing.  Just using this simple
technique has enabled me to 'clean' several climbs I've never managed before.....The next was fast cornering.  I've always
been nervous of the bike sliding out from under me ....... I was amazed to feel the difference
(that the correct technique)
made........Look ahead.  Obvious isn't it? Er, no.  I never realised this before, but it's so true.  It's amazing how much faster
and smoother I can ride......Finally, braking.  Colin's training revealed just how hard I can brake and still keep control of the
bike - even on loose surfaces.  This all came together in a recent race.  I managed to clean a steep, rocky climb, that had
much fitter riders, on very expensive bikes, off and pushing.  Then on a fast, sweeping fireroad descent, I was able to
handle the corners at full speed, whilst most competitors braked.  And on a section of singletrack, technical downhill, I had
the confidence to make up several places.  I had a great time and really enjoyed riding the course.  I'm amazed that after all
these years in the saddle, I could still benefit so much from a 'basic' course.  Absolutely brilliant value for money.

I can recommend flat tyres 'Trail Techniques' course, as an MTBer with a number of years experience but fading courage
for downhill descents, it enabled me to improve my riding style and confidence and pick up some new skills.  Colin's stepped
approach to learning and logical progression of techniques enabled the group to develop and his one on one feedback gave
me the ability to improve my bike handling.

My first real eureka moment was when Col showed me how to slalom at speed. It took me a while to get there, but Col was
patient and persevered until I eventually cracked it. Now, I tackle singletrack at twice the speed that I used to and feel a lot
more confident whilst doing it.

We leaned all aspects of Mountain Biking, which we both found extremely informative and benefited us in events we had
coming up.  A professional service offered and the teacher had great patience with some people who struggled with a couple
of things.  Overall, a really enjoyable day, learned a lot, and would recommend to anyone!

In respect of the mountain biking beginners course, I would (and have) recommend this to anyone who is happy cycling, but
unsure of themselves on anything more than a flat track / slight incline!  I found it really useful and have since put into
practice the different ways to brake, pedal and weight shifting and it worked!  It was also useful to know how a bike should
be set up, otherwise I would have continued to be cycling round without realising.  Thanks!

Thanks again for the course - I really enjoyed it, and have already been out a couple of times to hone my skills! (am much
better at cornering now!!).......
